How many people in today’s world can admit to writing down their new year’s resolution but never following through with it? I think we are all guilty of this… what’s the point of it anyway, right?! Don’t think that way. You are guaranteed to set yourself up for failure…
Instead of thinking training is your “new year’s resolution”, think of it as the start of a lifestyle change. A change that doesn’t have to start on January 1st of the new year, a change that doesn’t have a timeframe or that you’ll only do for three months. This time make training a change that is ongoing. Trust me, your body will thank you down the road in more ways that can ever be imagined.

If you’ve never had a membership at a gym before, make this your first step. Once the documents are signed and the gym staff has your banking account information on file for automatic withdrawals, shouldn’t you make an effort to use the membership wisely? I would think and hope the obvious answer is YES!! You’re paying for it regardless.
Take it slow and don’t get overwhelmed by smith machines, huge dumbbells and all of the exercise equipment the gym has to offer. Take baby steps and be patient. First things first… get to know the staff and trainers because chances are, your gym offers a one time free training session which will allow you to ask all the questions you want and get familiar with all they have to offer.
At this point in time cardio will be your best of friends. Once the sweat starts I bet you will want more! Your body won’t change overnight, that’s why we cannot stress enough the importance of being patient. Studies show and I know from personal experience that it takes 21 days for your body to see a difference. Now remember, this change will never happen if you eat all the wrong things. A well-balanced diet consisting of healthy fats, carbohydrates and proteins will fuel your body AND boost your metabolism so you can burn fat and shed those extra pounds.
Let’s now fast forward to about three months into your gym membership. How are ya feeling? Hopefully, you stayed with it and feel better. Hell, you might have even lost some weight and rewarded yourself with a new pair of jeans or something you’ve always wanted to wear. Are you satisfied? If you are anything like me, you are NEVER satisfied (and this is NOT a bad thing)! Cardio might be getting boring to you by this point. Or maybe you’ve used a few machines, picked dumbbells up and put them down, but now what? Want more? We have so many options for you…..so get ready!
Ever think about using steroids? There are millions of steroid users around. In fact, the person next to you on the treadmill might be using steroids. Never thought about that did you? Steroids can be taken by both men and women and they don’t have to make you turn into Arnold! People take steroids for so many reasons.
